A Thousand and One Djellabas

On vacation visiting family abroad! Peanut butter and chocolate spread are coming with them, saffron and orange blossom oil are coming back. Esmaa is traveling with her parents, brothers, and sister this summer to visit family living in Morocco. They're bringing all sorts of beautiful things and delicious spices back home. They pick them up at the market. But it's so crowded! She loses her mother among all the women in purple djellabas. She meets a fortune teller, an Aquarius, acrobats, and a monkey. They help Esmaa and her mother find each other again. The many summers Lisa Boersen and Hasna Elbaamrani spent with family abroad were the inspiration for this enchanting picture book. Annelies Vandenbosch brought it to life with her sparkling illustrations.
